Daylight Pairs
I live at the top of Stanyan Street in San Francisco.
There's a bay window in the front room. If you sit there and look up past the houses, you can see a small forest. And above it, on certain days, there's a group of birds.

they circle in pairs.
If you get the angle just right, you can see them so clearly against the sky. It's a beautiful thing.
I watch them for a while. The smoothness of it. The way they move together without thinking about it. There's a tranquility there that gets inside you. It gets inside me.

And I think, this is a song.
This is the feeling of a song.
This is the feeling of a song.

So I go and write it. A slow one. Cinematic.
And when I listen to it now, I see those birds again,
circling above that little forest at the top of Stanyan Street.
